Mediera was founded to tackle the twin challenges of housing affordability and climate resilience in rapidly urbanising parts of Asia. From the outset, the aim has been to move beyond one-off projects and build an ecosystem that connects construction, materials, finance, and community development into a more coherent whole.
Mediera partners with several universities, and together with government and industry players as part of the SCII Ecosystem to co-develop pilots and microfactory concepts that could be owned and operated locally, rather than imported as a one-size-fits-all solution. This work anchors Mediera’s approach in real communities, real constraints, and real policy environments.
Mediera also works closely with TSD Design Studio and other ecosystem partners to bridge technical design, digital tools, and on-the-ground implementation across Singapore and Southeast Asia. Together, these collaborations inform how Mediera designs its Tropical Base Units (TBUs), social spaces, and venture concepts—not as abstract products, but as platforms that can be adapted, localised, and governed with communities over time.
“Mediera” comes from mediare (“to mediate/bridge”) and era (“a new age”), reflecting the company’s role as a bridge between sectors, disciplines, and geographies in the transition to climate-resilient, community-centred futures.
